Having seen the film twice, I'm amazed by the cinematography. One would be hard put to find a single bad shot in the film, and the editing is unobtrusive. I found the long, slow, contemplative nature of much of the movie to be very fitting, and even exhilarating in the sense that it wasn't rapid-cutting superhero trash.
Unfortunately, there are also a few flaws. The narrative has some carelessly convenient jump-aheads, and some plot holes or story logic problems. At this point this is a consistent pattern with Denis Villeneuve- staggering visuals and narrative stumbles. Second, the sound design has been compromised by a BRRRONNNGG noise that plays through quite a few scenes and feels like a cheap manipulation.
I watched this movie in theaters. It is not the kind of movie i would normally watch, me and my friends had no idea what it was when we bought tickets, but it was good.
After The Godfather Part II and Empire Strikes Back, this is simply the greatest sequel ever made. I've never seen the original Bladerunner nor have I read the books so I don't know if it references to some written prose unknown to me, but Bladerunner 2049. Seriously. What I saw in this movie looks like technology from 2149 🤔 If this is what the future looks like 31 years from NOW, I don't want to be apart of it. Whoever thought this was a good title should be fired from existence.
The creator of this short film is the creative producer of an upcoming Blade Runner animated series to be produced by Adult Swim.
I wasn't expecting it to be so cute. Eliza dancing with Giles while they watch show tunes, her friendship with Zelda, that first music scene with the creature. So many good scenes.
Do you know why this is the worst sequel ever (aside from the crappy sequels from Disney)
Not only it is too over-long and boring it also makes it beautiful prequel become less attractive to the viewers. That is criminal. Sure, the keywords on IMDB point out the chicks are pretty but that is not enough justification for more sequels or remakes.
Hollywood, not every film needs a sequel. STOP.
Gonna bless everyone with a few hours of enjoyment, go read and then there were none by Agatha Christie, better than the Orient Express. What A Ride. Very nice. Good morning Baltimore! Theres the fish man who lives next door! Theres magneto acting like a fool He tries to kill me on my way to school. Best Movie Ever.
This was utterly visuals & scenic portrayals, however, were incredibly the audience was taken on a journey into a bleak & hopeless the acting was characters were was a lack of depth in any respects to not connect @ all with any gosling is just a pretty face on much else to offer in this can never live up to ford's 've found a better lead. br> the was it leaves the audience hanging @ some just cannot compare to the harrison ford was phenomenal. this is one of those films you can go watch on the big screen to escape into the year 2049 for one don't expect much else...
Suprised at other reviewers here. The movie is about to get knocked off the Top 250 movies, for what. Just use popcorn time its free. Who is watching this in 2019 on repeat because theyre super HYPED for the Bladerunner Black Lotus Anime. This movie had a lot of depth, and Ryan Gosling with his signature stoic demeanor made such an eerie and unnerving air around him I absolutely loved the imagery, and the movie really took it's time to give exposition on K's emotional disposition, which was so engaging to watch 💗.
I paid for the movie but there is always something wrong and I just cannot watch it. This movie didnt set the standard. IT IS THE STANDARD.
